Imam Maturidi International Research Center

By Resolution No. PQ-4802 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev dated August 11, 2020, the Imam Maturidi International Research Center was established under the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan.

At the Center, one of the two major theological doctrines widespread in the Islamic world—Maturidi and Ashari—the Maturidi doctrine founded by Imam Maturidi, its significance, its place today, and its invaluable works and manuscripts are studied.

Maturidi scholars and specialists from Uzbekistan and around the world are engaged at the Center and, within the framework of its activities, carry out the following tasks:

- to deeply study the vast scholarly, religious, and spiritual heritage of Imam Maturidi and the scholars who were his followers, who contributed to the development of creed and the science of kalam, preserved in the libraries and archival collections of foreign countries; to publish scholarly annotated translations and comparative texts of the works they created; to widely promote them among the people and the world community; and to conduct scientific research on these topics;

- to organize conferences, conventions, symposiums, exhibitions, scientific lectures, seminar-trainings and competitions, as well as other cultural and educational events devoted to scientific-theoretical and methodological issues, with the aim of strengthening international cooperation in the field of scholarly research on Islamic sciences, in particular the history of kalam and its significance today;

- to prepare encyclopedias, catalogs, albums, popular science documentary films, and an information-resource database on the results of new research in the fields of Islamic history and the science of kalam, and to publish them in the mass media, in particular on the Internet.
