Advanced Training Center under the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan

The Advanced Training Center was established on the basis of Decree No. PF-5416 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated April 16, 2018, and Resolution No. 25 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 14, 2019, “On measures to establish the Advanced Training Center and the “Ziyo” Media Center under the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan and to support their activities.”

The Center carries out its activities on the basis of Resolution No. 25 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 14, 2019, “On measures to establish the Advanced Training Center and the “Ziyo” Media Center under the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan and to support their activities.”

The main tasks of the Center:

Retraining and advanced training of employees in the religious sphere in such areas as Islamic history and source studies, Qur’anic studies and Hadith studies, as well as fiqh and the science of kalam;

Under the idea “Enlightenment against ignorance,” promoting the true teachings of religion, the ideas of goodness, the principles of mutual respect, peaceableness and tolerance, and educating youth on this basis, as well as retraining and advanced training of personnel responsible for outreach activities in state and non-state non-profit organizations;

Organizing scientific-practical conferences that expose the true aims of alien ideas threatening the stability of the state and society and global security, as well as elements hiding under the guise of religion, demonstrate the true essence of the idea of combating them through enlightenment, and conduct outreach activities based on deep scientific foundations;

Carrying out continuous work to further improve the religious environment in the republic and radically enhance efforts to raise the growing younger generation to be spiritually and morally mature and educate them in the spirit of patriotism;

Developing curricula, syllabi, study guides, and presentation materials that are scientifically grounded and encompass knowledge embodying the true teachings of Islam;

Consisting of attracting qualified professors and teachers, as well as recognized specialists in the field, to teach in advanced training and retraining courses for personnel.

The Center has the following regional branches:

Regional branch of the Republic of Karakalpakstan;

Regional branch of Samarkand region;

Regional branch of Namangan region;

Regional branch of Surkhandarya region.

Educational and methodological work:

On the basis of this Decree and Resolution, at the Advanced Training Center under the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan and its regional branches, for employees in the religious sphere in Islamic history and source studies, Qur’anic studies and Hadith studies, as well as fiqh and the science of kalam advanced training courses in such areas have been organized. In particular,

Imam-khatibs and deputy imams (144 hours);
Chief imam-khatibs of regions, cities and districts (144 hours);
The central office, regional departments and district in the direction of /city chief specialists (144 hours);
employees of the central office of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan (144 hours);
teaching staff of Religious Educational Institutions under the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan (144 hours);
research fellows of international research centers in Uzbekistan permanent professional development courses in “Islamic Studies” are being organized for (144 hours).

Also, over the past years, with various ministries, agencies and organizations, short-term professional development courses on a contractual basis have been organized. In particular,

employees of the Ministry of Defense (72 hours);
employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (36 and 72 hours);
employees of the State Security Service (72 hours);
employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (72 hours);
talented imam-khatibs (36 hours);
otin-oyis (36 hours);
advisers to rectors (36 hours);
representatives of return groups (36 hours);
propaganda groups in the regions (36 hours);
employees of the primary trade union committee of O‘zXIA professional development courses are conducted for (36 hours) in such areas as “Spiritual and educational foundations for preventing ideological vulnerability to alien ideas,” “Current issues in preventing radicalization among the population,” “Priority directions in preventing radicalization among women,” “Current issues in preventing youth radicalization,” and “Prevention of radicalism and extremism among youth.”

Research direction:

Over the past years, by the staff and professors-teachers of the Professional Development Center and its regional branches, 2 textbooks, 11 teaching aids, 6 educational-methodological manuals, 8 monographs, more than 10 pamphlets, 7 scientific and popular books of religious-educational content were published. In 6 SCOPUS indexed journals, in journals registered by the Higher Attestation Commission under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, more than 100 scientific articles, in foreign scientific journals more than 50 scientific articles as well as in collections of republican and international conferences, about 200 abstracts have been published.

Also, to Uzbekistan Television and its local TV channels, more than 50 interviews were given. On websites and social networks on the Internet, about 100 video lessons and articles were published.

Spiritual and educational work:

By the Professional Development Center and its regional branches, throughout our Republic, in mahallas and educational institutions, active participation has been maintained in more than 100 advocacy events on the topic “Enlightenment against Ignorance”. Also, at events organized by partner organizations, lectures were delivered at events entitled “Preventing military personnel from falling under the influence of local residents holding religiously fanatical views or members of extremist organizations,” “Patriotism,” “The concept of sound belief in Islam,” “Suicide,” “Child upbringing in the family,” “The emergence and doctrine of Islam,” “The negative consequences of terrorism and extremism,” “Religious and psychological features of preparing for family life,” and “The right to live is the highest blessing” with participation.

In order to ensure meaningful use of the listeners’ time after classes, a plan of spiritual and educational events has been developed. In accordance with this plan, to the New Uzbekistan Park, the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, the “Shahidlar xotirasi” memorial complex and the State Museum “In Memory of the Victims of Repression”, the “Hazrati imam” complex, located on the territory of the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, the “Yunusxon”, “Shayx Xovandi Tohur”, “Qaldirg‘ochbiy” mausoleums, the “Manbalar xazinasi” department as well as organized throughout the Republic visits to various theaters and museums have been arranged. Also, located in Bukhara region, pilgrimages throughout the “Yetti pir majmualari” were organized.
